Everyone knows that Minecraft is a monster in and of itself, but there are many of us in the gaming community that have just never really gotten into what Notch and his team have brought to the table. I always thought that a mobile version would be the right dose of this game for me and once August hits, it will give me another shot to jump back into Minecraft’s world.
I first experienced Minecraft when it came to the Xbox 360. I liked what I saw and spent a few hours playing the game, but it just didn’t feel like a game I wanted to sit down and play in my home. There was just something about it that wished it would come to a handheld console.
When I heard the Notch’s massive hit was headed for the PS Vita I was actually very intrigued. Minecraft has always hit me as a game that is perfect for on the go play. You can play it for 5 minutes and accomplish something, same goes for half and hour and even on the other side of the scale, hours on end. This is exactly how I view handheld consoles and I think it will lend itself perfectly to Minecraft.
I also like the idea of being able to do a one time transfer of your save over to the PlayStation 4 version of the game. That if I do happen to really get attached to this title and create something awesome, I’ll be able to transfer it and jump into it on a much, much bigger scale. Although I’ll have to pay for the game twice, I think it will be worth the price tag if I do enjoy my time. This will definitely be an option I only explore if I really enjoy my time with the Vita version.
I know there is a huge community that adores this game and I hate that I can’t get into it, even after seeing that awe inspiring things that they create. I hope that getting to experience the game on Sony’s handheld I will encourage me to jump back into that world and possibly even discover a love that so many other gamers have already.
